Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures

Welcome to Derby Middle School! We are excited to have you at our school. Our Arrival/Dismissal Procedures have been in place for several years now. Our priority is to ensure students are safe and our procedures are efficient. 

Morning Arrival Procedures

  • Arrival: Students may arrive from 7:50-8:10AM (8:50-9:10AM on Mondays), and wait in the gym until the building opens at 8:02AM, or proceeding to the cafeteria for breakfast.
    • Students should not arrive before 7:50AM unless for scheduled activities.
    • Inclement weather entry begins at 7:50AM.

Afternoon Dismissal Procedures

  • Dismissal: New concrete blocks in the Panther Stadium lot improve pedestrian safety and traffic flow. Please follow the traffic plan: Cars must exit the same way they entered using one of three non-crossing loops: Madison-Green, Market-Orange or Woodlawn-Yellow.
    • Students are not allowed to exit through G Hall doors (Northeast corner) to prevent traffic congestion on Madison.
    • Families should pre-identify a specific meeting location, such as a parking stall in the Panther Stadium lot for student pick-up.
