Principal's Message

Welcome to Derby Middle School!

At DMS, our mission is to empower students with the academic, cognitive and social skills to positively impact their community. To provide a safe and productive learning environment, successful DMS students demonstrate our Character Strong core values of Kindness, Commitment, Forgiveness, Patience, Respect, Honesty, Humility, Selflessness and Creativity. We’re proud to offer recently updated curricula to support our students' growth, such as Character Strong, LeadWorthy, Carnegie Math, StudySync (English), Lab Aides (Science) and Project Lead the Way (Engineering and Computer Science). We also offer a variety of Civic Engagement opportunities to promote leadership and teamwork skills, such as Student Council, Kansas Association of Youth, National Junior Honor Society and Student2Student. Each day, our students achieve great things in the classroom or on the stage, court or field.
